The term “Au Pair” comes from the French “on a par,” meaning “equal to.” Our Live-in Language & Cultural Exchange Program offers young people the opportunity to experience everyday life in China through cultural immersion, language exchange, and meaningful interaction with a Host Family.
Participants can stay in China for different Program durations, with placements available in major cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Chongqing, and more.
As a Participant, you will become part of your Host Family’s everyday life and experience Chinese family culture from the inside. Rather than taking on the role of a nanny or household worker, you are welcomed as an older sister or brother and a cultural exchange companion to the children.
Through everyday interaction, you can naturally share your language and culture with the children through conversations, games, music, drawing, reading, outdoor activities, sports, walks, and other shared interests. The focus is on genuine communication, cultural exchange, and building a meaningful connection with your Host Family.
Household chores are NOT part of the Program. Participants are only expected to take care of their own personal space, such as keeping their bedroom tidy and cleaning the bathroom after their own use.
Alongside family life, Participants may also attend Chinese language courses through a university or other educational institution, depending on the Program arrangement and local availability. This provides an opportunity to improve your Chinese, discover more about Chinese culture, and make your time in China both educational and culturally meaningful.
